Lens-making is an art--Nikon artisans craft Nikkor optics from the finest materials, taking pride in adding their intellect and technique to bring the world's finest lenses to life. They push the leading edge of lens-making in their effort to provide the "glass" that makes the world's greatest pictures.
The Nikon 17-55mm f2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX is the world's first constant f2.8 3.2x zoom lens developed exclusively for use with Nikon DX Format. The 3.2x zoom covers from a wide angle of 79 degrees to a narrow angle of 28 degrees 50 minutes (equivalent to 25.5mm to 85.5mm for 35mm format) and is ideal for architecture, landscape, groups shots and portraits. DX design enables a combination of wider angle-of-view with optical characteristics that are optimized for Nikon digital SLR camera sensors. Nikon DX design produces a smaller image circle (the size of the image that is projected by the lens on to the sensor) enabling smaller lens diameter, lighter weight, and optimal image quality from center-to edge-to-corner on the image.
Three Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements minimize chromatic aberration and provide higher resolution and superior contrast. Three aspherical lens elements minimize distortion in a lightweight and compact design similar to 17-35mm f2.8 lens. The exclusive Silent Wave Motor enables ultra-high-speed autofocusing with exceptional accuracy and powerful super-quiet operation. [M/A] and [M] modes allow rapid switching between AF and MF operation. Internal Focusing design for smoother focusing and great body balance. Nikon D-type design provides precise distance information for flash and ambient light exposure processes. The rounded diaphragm makes out-of-focus elements appear more natural. The G Type DX Nikkor is designed exclusively for use with Nikon Digital SLR models.

Its eye-catching wave-surface design sets a high standard for quality throughout the camera, while its smooth curves and beautiful finish blend operational ease with stylish sophistication.

The Nikon Coolpix S51 is an outstanding new compact digital camera combining Nikon's distinctive wave-surface design with advanced features that make it easier to take beautiful photos and to share them with friends and family.
The Coolpix S51 teams 8.1 effective megapixels of sharp resolution with a new high-performance digital image processing engine and the precision optics of the built-in "right-angle" optical lens shift VR (Vibration Reduction) 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens to produce photos with clarity and true-to-life color. Extended light sensitivity as high as ISO 1600 prevents blurred shots when shooting in lower light or when capturing fast-moving subjects.

The 3.0-inch LCD monitor offers a bright and large image that eases composition and viewing, even out in the sun. The Nikon Total Digital SLR Imaging System includes world-renowned optical quality from Nikkor lenses. Ongoing research and development of Nikkor lenses allows Nikon to continuously provide Nikon digital SLR photographers with additional choices and even greater optical performance.
Nikon is pleased to add to the lineup the new AF-S DX-Nikkor 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G VR, a lens featuring a built-in Silent Wave Motor and Vibration Reduction (VR). The AF-S DX-Nikkor 18- 55mm f3.5-5.6G VR is an affordable, and compact, 3x zoom lens with amazing versatility. This new lens provides enhanced shooting flexibility as the latest addition to the Nikon DX-Nikkor lens lineup.

I bought this to replace my standard Nikon 18-55mm "non-VR" and will never look back. Getting great pictures is already challenging enough without trying to hold the camera like a statue. If you often enjoy shooting without lugging a tripod all the time or constantly firing your flash, this lens makes a huge difference in your photos. It is a shame when you get a fantastic capture and your subject lacks that "tack sharp" appearance. After shooting with the non-VR version of this lens, I was often disappointed with available-light shots on some impromptu photos. You know how it goes - "grab the camera quick before you miss out on that (insert subject here)!" Perhaps you make it in time and shoot several frames, but "whoops!" - In all the excitement you didn't get one shot that makes the grade in sharpness. This is where the VR feature on this relatively excellent lens is a LIFE SAVER!

Engineered with pro-level features and performance, the 12.3-effective-megapixel D300 combines brand new technologies with advanced features inherited from Nikon's newly announced D3 professional digital SLR camera to offer serious photographers remarkable performance combined with agility.
Similar to the D3, the D300 features Nikon's exclusive EXPEED Image Processing System that is central to driving the speed and processing power needed for many of the camera's new features. The D300 features a new 51-point autofocus system with Nikon's 3D Focus Tracking feature and two new LiveView shooting modes that allow users to frame a photograph using the camera's high-resolution LCD monitor. The D300 shares a similar Scene Recognition System as is found in the D3; it promises to greatly enhance the accuracy of autofocus, autoexposure, and auto white balance by recognizing the subject or scene being photographed and applying this information to the calculations for the three functions.
The D300 reacts with lightning speed, powering up in a mere 0.13 seconds and shooting with an imperceptible 45-millisecond shutter release lag time. The D300 is capable of shooting at a rapid six frames per second and can go as fast as eight frames per second when using the optional MB-D10 multi-power battery pack. In continuous bursts, the D300 can shoot up to 100 shots at full 12.3-megapixel resolution. (NORMAL-LARGE image setting, using a SanDisk Extreme IV 1GB CompactFlash card.)

MBD 10 For NIkon D300 Digital Camera includes MS-D10EN for use with EN-EL3e battery (sold separately)

It comes with two battery trays: one holds an EN-EL3e 7.4v 1500mAh lith-ion battery (same as what the camera holds). The other tray takes eight, AA batteries. Depending on which AA cells you install (Ni-MH, lithium, Ni-MN or alkaline) you can have 9.6 (NiMH at 2500mAh or more) or 12 volts. That voltage can crank the motor to its rated limit of 8 fps...at least until the buffer fills up and its frame rate slows while it writes to the card. You also tell the D300 via the menu which type of battery you have installed. It keeps track of charge for you based on the type. Very smart.

From the solid feel and comfortable grip of one of the world's smallest compact stainless-steel bodies to its large, easy-access control buttons and 2.7-inch high-resolution LCD monitor, the Coolpix S600 is a joy to carry and to take pictures with.

I take a lot of wildlife pictures, and the "Active Child" setting is PERFECT for my needs. This camera has helped me take the most stunning pictures I have ever been able to take. I am an amateur photographer, and this camera has all of the features I need to take my pictures from being good to being great. I definitely recommend reading the manual 1st, though, and I may even re-read now that I have had the camera for a month. Awesome buy - great value for the money!

The CoolPix L11 high light sensitivity up to 800 allows you to tackle low-light scenes and situations far beyond the capabilities of conventional compact cameras. The CoolPix L11 has an amazing 2.4-inch LCD, perfect for viewing and sharing images. Detects and corrects for camera movement to give you rock-steady results time after time. The CoolPix L11 features 15 specially programmed modes to automatically handle focus, exposure, white balance and other adjustments that help you take great pictures easily. To ensure superb portraits with crisp focus, select Face priority AF (in Portrait Scene Mode). This feature automatically finds the subject's face and focuses on it.

I found out that a newer version of this camera has a inferior processor in comparison to the older one, so I searched and found a older(by 6 months!) model and bought it. It has 1 megapixel less, but this is made up with the superior processor. This point and shoot camera is a great buy in all departments. I got a black one. The only 2 things you could offer as a complaint is it's a little tough on batteries, and it's low light shooting. But hey, I like the whole battery thing. If they die, you swap them out, no waiting around to recharge.

Works perfectly. I have used it in harsh conditions doing my volcano photography and it's going strong. Even after numerous times dropping it on rock.

I recently upgraded from a Nikon D70 to the D80, and I am in love with my camera again! I had stopped using the D70 because it seemed no matter what I did my images were always grainy looking. With the D80 all of my images have been extremely sharp, even with an older 300mm lens. I also love being able to hold down the shutter button and let the camera take picture after picture, I have been able to get some amazing shots as a result. I think the built in flash is more powerful than on the D70 as well, some pictures I took inside turned out good and did not look like an obvious flash picture (shadows, dark background, etc.). I highly recommend this camera.

I frequently read the DPPREVIEW forums and everyone is talking about the new D300 vs the D3 vs the 40D vs the D200 vs the 5D. People....it doesn't matter! I'm convinced if you could put the 85mm f/1.4 on a pin hole camera you would get UNBELIEVABLE pictures. I've only been using this lens for a few days, but I can't tell you how impressed I am. The pictures are TACK sharp. The bokeh is beautiful and the weird 3D like effect is amazing. Auto focus is great on my D200. Not any louder than any of my other Nikon lenses. Worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Recently purchased Nikon D60 with 18mm-55mm VR lens. Very happy with the product and the performance. Was taking pictures as soon as the battery was charged. Ease of use and picture quality is excellent. User will get great shots with this camera if exposure setting is set at -0.3 in the "Program" mode. Auto setting is too bright. The VR lens allows the user to get great pictures with longer exposure times and small aperture settings while hand held. Suggest a 52mm UV filter and a backup battery as necessities. Shop the internet for batteries as these can be bought for less than $10.00 rather than to pay the Nikon price. These substitutions are great and perform as well as the higher priced batteries. Ken Rockwell's website on the D40 camera is as helpful as the users manual and far easier to follow to get a complete understanding of how to use the D60 (almost identical to the D40)

This is My first Nikon. I have been a fan of Canon and Olympus for many years. Previous to this camera, I was using an Olympus Evolt 500. The E-500 is a good camera. However, it is older and some aspects of the 500 bugged me. The view finder could have been a little clearer, the focus could have been faster and although the picture quality was good, it still wasnt quite at the level I wanted. I was on the verge of buying two new lenses, which were better and more expensive than the two kit lenses, and a external flash. Then one day while I was out at the big Warehouse Store shopping, I saw the Nikon D60 kit with camera bag and two lenses and for about the same cost as I was ready to spend on my 500. I knew this camera had great reviews and was one of the top 10 recommended digital SLRs on one of my favorite camera review sites.

Seize the day, moment by photogenic moment, with the Nikon Coolpix S510. With the 3x zoom Nikkor lens, you've got the quality optics to capture a great image, while the 8.1 megapixels ensure a fine high resolution for large prints and images. This model also has VR Optical Image Stabilization built in, eliminating motion blur from even the shakiest photographer's work. High Response allows the camera to power-up within 0.7 seconds and shutter delay of only 5ms. You can use the One Touch Portrait Button to focus on faces and instantly fix red-eye, and the Auto adjusts up to ISO 2000, so you can even shoot in low light. When you're done, you can review and show off your pictures on the 2.5 inch high definition LCD monitor.

I'm a digital portrait photographer, and I have a DSLR and alot of equipment that I lug around whenever I'm on a shoot. My digital SLR is a workhorse... however, it's heavy and it's an expensive camera (not to mention the lenses that I work with), and it's just not practical or logical to carry it around when I'm not doing a formal shoot with a client. So, I looked into getting a small, compact, and cheap (money-wise) point-and-shoot camera that I could slip into my pocket or my purse for everyday moments, that I could whip out at any second and start taking pictures. I had a Canon SD800 IS for awhile... and while it was an okay camera, it tended to blow out the highlights more often than not... so I searched again... and knowing that Nikon tends to be a bit more conservative with highlights, I came across this little camera, the s510. I didn't need a high-end point-and-shoot. I already have my DSLR, and high end compacts tend to be larger than a pocket... and I wanted something cheap, around $150 or so, and this fit the ticket.

This would most probably be the sharpest lens in Nikon's arsenal. The 60mm on a 1.5 crop factor camera would be about 90mm in 35mm format. this lens would be a dual purpose portrait lens + close up lens. The 60mm is a bit short if you want to take insects (but not impossible), and the 105mm or 200mm Micro-Nikkor lens would be better for that, but if you take still life, flowers, objects, food, etc. This lens would be perfect for it. The minimum focusing distance is a bit too close for most inscets' comfort.

I read the manual and installed the Grip to my D200. What a big difference It handle better. I order this grip even though I have total of 4 batteries for my D200. Now I have more peace of mind that I can carry AA for spare in my Back Pack. For the latch to hold the cover, I finally figure out not to break it by pushing the cover gently while slowly turning the latch without forcing it , so not to break the locking mechanism inside. I love the feel in my hand , use it to my tripod without removing the grip and it is very stable. Plus I also ordered the cable release for really sharp picture shooting. For the price you can't go wrong. Very easy to shoot potrait now. I have wedding to do this March so, I'm ready to rock with my Nikon D200, SB 800 and my Spare Nikon D70. Now debating which lens to get between 17-55 f/2.8 or 70-200mm F/2.8 VR...need help

This accessory is great. You have the advantage of using the battery pack or 6 AA batteries. It holds two battery packs and switches from one to the other as needed. If you are out and about and can't charge the packs, you can use AA batteries!

I would like to say that this is a first rate compact camera. I also own the Sony DSC-T200 and I believe that the S510 matches it in image quality. The photos the S510 takes are also sharper than the T200, but each camera has it's own "image look", with the T200 having more saturated colors while the S510 being more conservative in saturation, even with the vivd mode set to "on".

I have been using a Sony P10 for the last 4-5 years and was never 100% satisfied with the picture quality but I was never up for spending to much on a SLR until someone told me about this one. Picture quality is great, the battery life is great and overall I am very happy with the camera.

Product was shipped and received on time - good service. The D300 is a very sophisticated high end camera. I am an accomplished film photographer but my only previous digital experience has been a Canon PowerShot point-and-shoot. I knew it was time to get serious about digital and wanted a serious camera - the D300 is certainly that. I have a very long way to go before I will be able to take advantage of all this camera can do but suffice it to say that it will do everything you could possibly imagine and do it well. An additional plus for me was the ability to use all of the Nikon AF Nikkor lenses that I already had for my Nikon N90 film camera. I would not recommend this camera for a casual photographer - it is expensive and you will never take advantage of all it can do; however, if you are a serious photographer or have plans to be one, this is a great camera.

Lens-making is an art--Nikon artisans craft Nikkor optics from the finest materials, taking pride in adding their intellect and technique to bring the world's finest lenses to life. They push the leading edge of lens-making in their effort to provide the "glass" that makes the world's greatest pictures.
AF Nikkor lenses work with Nikon SLRs for optimal performance, even the very latest. The Nikon 70-200mm f2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR is a compact, lightweight G-type fast telephoto zoom with Vibration Reduction. VR operation offers the equivalent of using a shutter speed three stops (eight times) faster. In addition, active vibration mode selection is possible, for use in an active situation such as in a car, boat, or plane. VR On/Off mode available.

I've had this lens for approximately 6 months now - use it w/ my Nikon D200 primarily for kids sports (baseball and soccer). The lens is heavy - and I've found that mounting it on a tripod gives the best results. I also have become a lens snob. The action shots are so much more crisp vs. the 70 -300mm telephoto of 3 yrs ago. I'm not sure that I'll ever want something without vibration reduction again.

We added a screen protector and a lanyard to hang the camera around his neck for safety. He loves it, as does his younger brother. He takes stills that his Mom uploads to iPhoto for him, and he takes movies that the family can watch on the TV or the computer. And it is small enough for Mom to carry in her purse when he tires of taking pictures .. and then she uses it to take pics of the kids playing, and is more than satisfied with the result. The family has a bigger, newer, better camera for indoor use and special occasions, but loves having this little one handy when they are out and about. There may be better cameras out there that take more technically perfect pictures, but this camera, and its price, were a perfect choice for our purpose.

Plug-and-play USB 2.0 interface facilitates rapid, accurate image transfer Media - Accepts 35m slides & film strips & APS (IX240) film OS Compatibility - Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP; Mac OS 9.0-9.2, Mac OS X (10.1.3+) Dimensions - 6.8H x 3.8W x 12.4D; weighs 6.6 pounds

A high-performance dedicated film scanner from Nikon, the CoolScan V ED offers high-quality scanning of 35mm slides, 35mm film strips, APS film (with optional IX240 film adapter), and prepared slides (with optional medical slide holder). The Scanner-Nikkor ED glass lens offers a 4,000 dpi optical resolution, while the 3,964-pixel linear CCD image sensor and 14-bit A/D input (8-/16-bit output) provide true-to-life, brilliant results.

I'd wanted to scan in my 35mm negatives for years, not only archiving all our photos onto CDs that could be stored in a fireproof safe, but organizing them as well. I estimated we had about 3000-4000 photos. My parents have thousands of slides in carousels that I would tackle after ours had been done. I am right now about 3000 photos into my project. I was way off, I think I am only a 1/3 of the way through, judging by the boxes of negatives that remain.

This is my third Nikon Coolpix camera over several years and each one has gotten better (and the first one was quite good). I am an Art History teacher in a high school and so I shoot a lot of pictues inside museums. This latest Coolpix does an excellent job in low light and no flash. The camera is adaptable for special usages and it is perfect for snapshots both indoors and outside. Never have I been so satisfied with any camera.

Enjoy taking great pictures easily with the Nikon CoolPix L14 digital camera. It's got Easy Auto Mode for great pictures any time, as well as an astoundingly long battery life - you can get 1,000 pictures on a single set of Energizer AA lithium batteries! With the 3x zoom Nikkor lens, you've got the quality optics to capture a great image, while the 7.1 Megapixels ensure a fine enough resolution for prints as large as 16 by 20 inches. You can use the One Touch Portrait Button to focus on faces and instantly fix red-eye, and the Auto adjusts up to ISO 1000, so you can even shoot in low light. When you're done, you can review and show off your pictures on the 2.4-inch high definition LCD monitor. Finally, its slim, compact design lets it find a home in any pocket or bag until the next memorable moment comes along.

This is a great camera. I bought it for my 8 year old daughter. She had gotten an $80.00 Polaroid Kid's camera for Christmas that worked for 1 day, so I wanted an actual camera for her. She loves it. I did buy a larger memory card. It's easy for her to use. She takes pictures and makes "movies", deletes them and even downloads onto the computer. The battery life is great too. I think I like this camera better than my Cannon, but she won't give it up. This is a great buy for the young or the not so young. We love it.

Very nice features, easy to use. Picture quality seems to above average. I was concerned about a noise the camera made upon start up, i think it is the lense and/or cover just getting started. I asked someone else who also has the same camera, and theirs did it too. Also, if you gently shake the camera, you can also hear a noise, like something is loose inside the camera. The others did this too. But it hasnt seemed to affect the camera use or the pictures. I am guessing/hoping it is normal. Battery life isnt as good as I would like, but not too bad. I am thinking of buying an extra battery. Size is very nice. Overall, so far I am very satisfied with the quality and the value.

85mm focal length is considered the optimal choice for portrait work using a 35mm SLR camera
F/1.4
D-Series for Nikon mount cameras

I don't want anything less so I got the cream of the crop. Bokeh is super and this is just an AWESOME lens. Pricey but well worth it! This is fast, tack sharp and just one heck of a lens! Nikon really lives up to its reputation in making super sharp glass! Well done and highly recommended for portrait photographers!

I class myself as an advanced hobbyist with regards to photography. In the past, I have used Nikon Pro-grade film cameras such as the F-3 and FM-2. Like many people, I started out slow with digital photography because a lot of the "experts" said it wouldn't last. About a month ago, I bought a Nikon D40x w/Nikkor 18-135 lens and have found it to be a wonderful camera. It has enough features to keep the advanced hobbyist interested and yet is simple enough for a beginner. The menus are easy to navigate through and because I didn't have any AF lenses, I don't care that there is no servo (focusing motor) in the body. As with all Nikkor lenses, the quality is first class. The D40x has a built in flash but for serious lighting issues, I would recommend one of the more powerful Nikon Speed lights. All in all, I am very satisfied with the D40x and would recommend it to anyone ready to move up from a point and shoot camera.
