The Nikon MB-D80 Multi-Power Battery Pack holds 2 EN-EL3e Lithium-Ion rechageable batteries, effectively doubling your total shooting time. Can also hold a AA battery holder (included), so users can use AA batteries as a power backup. The MB-D80 Multi-Power Battery Pack provides an AF-on button, vertical firing release with lock, and front and rear command dials.

Runs on either one or two EN-EL3e batteries or six AA-size batteries
Works with AA-size alkaline, Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), lithium, and nickel-manganese batteries
Provides added stability with extended shooting potential

I like this grip! I consider it an extravagance; but it's an extravagance I like. I don't mind the weight and I do like the extra griping area. I realize it's not free; you could carry the extra battery in your pocket (saving money and camera bag space); you can still turn the camera on its side w/out the grip of course. But I haven't taken mine off since I first put it on and I like it!

I considered, for some time, the f1.8 Nikon and the 30mm Sigma, but decided on the f1.4 50mm Nikon. I was looking for a lens which could fit indoor images (wide-enough for small groups of people) and one which would allow me to be less reliant on flash.

The D40x's high-resolution image quality 10.2 effective Megapixel Nikon DX format CCD imaging sensor and exclusive Nikon image-processing engine assures stunning sharpness and color. You'll be amazed at the power packed into a camera that you can start shooting with right out of the box. High resolution provides room for creative cropping. A fast 0.18 second startup combined with split-second shutter response and rapid-action shooting at up to 3 frames per second makes it easy to freeze special moments instantly. 2.5-inch, 230K Color LCD Monitor with 170-Degree Wide-Angle Viewing Playback images are easy to see and function menus are easier to use with a larger and brighter color LCD monitor. The large 2.5-inch LCD monitor enables image preview at up to 19 times magnification and has large type fonts with easy-to-view menus.

I used a lot of people's digital SLRs before finally deciding to buy this one for my own, and I couldn't be happier with the choice. The camera is light and perfectly ergonomic. Its menus are big, bright, and intuitive. Its image quality is far better than the Canon digital Rebel and Rebel XT that many folks I know have. Its use of SD memory, rather than compact flash is forward thinking. Its lens selection is somewhat limited right now, but that will only get better, and the lenses that are available now are excellent and do cover the needs of virtually all amatuer photographers. And the price for what you get absolutely can't be beaten by anything that competitors like Canon and Sony are offering right now.

I decided on this camera over the D40 and the Rebel XTi due to the fact it takes great shots right out of the box. I am still learning to use an SLR so this helps. Also the meni system is very user friendly on the Nikons and the kit lens is pretty decent. I was able to get a bag, flash, and a 50mm lens on ebay as well. Great camera, I cant wait to figure out all the features. If you thinking about buying this model, do it!

This camera is so well-designed with many, many useful features. Great results even with ISO 3200 (looks like 800 did on the d80). I upgraded from the d80 and it's an enormous difference. I would buy it all over again. The auto-focus "fine-tune" feature for different lenses has been great. It is alot heavier than the d80, but you adjust quickly to the difference. You won't be sorry!

f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens with 35mm equivalent of 27-300mm * Vibration Reduction (VR II) allows in-focus shots with longer exposure times (up to four stops slower shutter speed) * contains two ED (extra-low dispersion) and three asperical lens elements for high resolution and contrast * Silent Wave Motor for fast, quiet focusing * compatible with Nikon DX format digital SLR cameras including the D80 and D200 * minimum focus distance: 19.2 inches * lens is 3-13/16" long, 3" in diameter *

High-ratio, 11x zoom lens and 18-200mm focal range
VR II Vibration Reduction technology provides a four-steps-faster shutter speed
Lens incorporates two ED glass and three aspheric lens elements
Delivers high-resolution and contrast, outstanding image quality, and fantastic photographic versatility
AF-S Silent Wave Motor provides fast quiet autofocusing, and M/A mode makes it easy to switch from auto to manual focus

Other than the price being somewhat high this is a super lens to have attached to your camera. No more missed long shots because the short lens was in place. Example: hawk on a wire, 18-55 on camera, change lens, hawk gone. I have experienced no zoom creep while holding the equipment in a downward position and my images are sharp and true to life. I would recommend this lens to anyone. It's the best (in my opinion).

55-200mm zoon Nikkor lens with f/4-5.6 maximum aperture for Nikon digital SLR cameras
2 extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass elements for minimized chromatic aberration and superior optics
Super-integrated coating minimizes ghosting and flare for more vivid images in dim lighting
Silent Wave Monitor produces quick and quiet high-speed autofocusing; weighs 9 ounces
Measures 2.7 inches in diameter and 3.1 inches long; 5-year warranty

It was between this and the faster 55-300 for about twice the price. I'm glad I picked this lens. It's smaller, lighter, and does what I need it to do, which is to chase two small children around and capture their play anywhere we go. The autofocus is not quite fast enough to grab every shot I want when I'm in tight and they're moving quickly, but believe it or not the manual focus option allows me to capture most shots anyway in that situation, it just takes a little practice.

I own a D40, and this is apparently the only Nikkor mid-range medium tele that also provides auto-focus. The VR is not quite as good as my 18-200DX, but the AF is definitely faster. Outdoors, this lens rules. The photos at 200mm are cleaner than my 18-200DX. So far, I put in about 400 shots. I get clean shots of my kids outdoors skating. I also got some theatre shots, and was impressed with how some of them came out, especially since this is not a low loght lens.

First off, I am an amateur photographer. Amateur as in, just really getting into it in the past year. I do own a pair of 4 MP cameras, a Kodak and Pentax, and decided I wanted something with a few more bells and whistles. I didn't want to go full on DSLR though, mainly because, as I say, I am new to this. So I ended up getting a hybrid. This is a point and shoot that you can throw a wide angle or teleconverter on. It also has some manual settings. As far as pictures, I see no problems with them. Definitely better than anything I can get from my other cameras.

Engineered with pro-level features and performance, the 12.3-effective-megapixel D300 combines brand new technologies with advanced features inherited from Nikon's newly announced D3 professional digital SLR camera to offer serious photographers remarkable performance combined with agility.
Similar to the D3, the D300 features Nikon's exclusive EXPEED Image Processing System that is central to driving the speed and processing power needed for many of the camera's new features. The D300 features a new 51-point autofocus system with Nikon's 3D Focus Tracking feature and two new LiveView shooting modes that allow users to frame a photograph using the camera's high-resolution LCD monitor. The D300 shares a similar Scene Recognition System as is found in the D3; it promises to greatly enhance the accuracy of autofocus, autoexposure, and auto white balance by recognizing the subject or scene being photographed and applying this information to the calculations for the three functions.

Other reviews have gone into depth with the d300's superb technical features. They should be carefully considered. This is not a camera for the casual amateur. There is no fully automatic control that casual amateurs use probably 99% of the time. This camera's strengths are in the shooter's ability to control the extensive capabilities that Nikon has designed into the d300. One doesn't learn this camera overnight. Pros should find the d300 a challenge and valuable tool as well. For me this is a great step up from my d70. And, I can use all my Nikon lenses from my film shooting days. I also want to praise Photoworld, Amazon's sales partner, for the prompt and thorough handling of the order, especially when a problem occurred. Photoworld had processed the original order within 24 hours and shipped via UPS. When I saw no UPS tracking action beyond the pick-up notice, I contaced Photoworld which contacted UPS immediately. After a UPS trace failed to locate the shipment, Photoworld shipped a replacement immediately. Photoworld is a model of superior service.

Fits all Nikon SLR cameras but optimized for automatic-focus models

I am new at this camera thing... I bought this to go with my Nikon d40x because it says that it's compatible with the camera. It does work with the camera but everything is manual focus with this lens. I guess the d40x does not have some "drive" on it that other cameras do to make it autofocus. I can get some great shots with it, but it's all manual which is a lot of work! I won't so much blame the lens....should have researched my camera more before I bought it. oh well, live and learn!

I primarily shoot a Nikon D200, and up until a couple days ago, only carried three lenses with me. They are the 12-24mm dx, the nikkor 80-200mm f2.8, and the 55mm micro (manual focus). I felt the need to get something in the "middle range" for street photography, but have previously returned every mid-range zoom I've ever bought. This lens was the answer! The lens is fast, autofocus is lightning quick, it's cheap, and it's small and light. Images are sharper than any lens I've previously shot, the bokeh (out of focus backround) when shot wide-open is as good as I've seen, and lens flare is non-existent. That's right, and I've shot directly into halogen, floresent and the sun! For those who experience flare with this lens, I recommend taking off your useless UV filter. The front lens element is receded far enough that it is not at risk for bumps, smudges and cracks.

The D300 reacts with lightning speed, powering up in a mere 0.13 seconds and shooting with an imperceptible 45-millisecond shutter release lag time. The D300 is capable of shooting at a rapid six frames per second and can go as fast as eight frames per second when using the optional MB-D10 multi-power battery pack. In continuous bursts, the D300 can shoot up to 100 shots at full 12.3-megapixel resolution. (NORMAL-LARGE image setting, using a SanDisk Extreme IV 1GB CompactFlash card.)

I have a D100 to compare my new D300.. The D300 is so far more advanced that I feel like a little kid playing with a toy. The ability to take good pictures in low light without a flash using a very high ISO and pushing the compensation settings to 1.7 makes it a pleasure. I visit museums that don't allow flash and now have some really good pictures of my subjects. I use the burst speed and continuous focus for my radio control car racing and have great pictures almost movie like. I like the large viewer and the amazing number of choices that can be programmed. The dials are conveniently located. The only drawback is that I can't use my Capture 4 software with the D300.

EN-EL3e Li-ion Rechargeable Battery for Nikon digital SLR cameras. Keeping a spare battery on hand ensures that you will always be ready to capture the images you want most. And, while Li-ion rechargeable batteries are less prone to recharge "memory," using the normal complete charge of one battery before recharging will better ensure optimum rechargeable battery life. A freshly charged spare battery allows this and provides uninterrupted photography.

After reading varius reviews on how the off-brand batteries may or may not work, I decided to get the original Nikon battery for my D80. I got it at a good priceof $37 before Christmas. I am happy with it. I get quite a few shots before I have to put the other one on. Obviously, you can tell that I have two and this helps out a lot in that I have one ready when the first one runs out.

This is by far the best lens I have ever owned. Focus is fast and sharp as a tack and the color is superb. The VR function is the best feature. I love being able to handhold my camera at 40th to 30th of a second and still get crisp shots. It even works well for indoor wedding shots. No need for a tripod. It works great with flash as well and those moments when you want to drag the shutter. I can't say enough about this product. It is totally worth the money paid!
